President Bush Visits Rocketown!
Back in April, when Pres Bush was in Nashville for some fund-raisers, he requested a meeting with the staff from Rocketown.
The staff went to the hotel where he was staying and Michael W Smith was there with the Pres. The Pres wanted to meet the staff and asked them to bring some of the youth from their youth program, who's lives have been affected, because of his Faith based programs. This was not a publicized event.
The Pres had many things to say, here are some highlights:
He said, He has come to realize that government is incapable of love and we, as Christians, are on the frontlines as soldiers of compassion. We have to change the world, one heart at a time.
He also talked to the youth and told them He use to be not a very good person. He was a drunk and not a good husband or father, but the only way He could change was to surrender His life to Jesus and accept Him as his Saviour. Everything good he has in his life he owes to Jesus. He said: I have a great wife and kids, and oh yeah, I am President of the United States!
Josh, who told me this story, said he was very impressed with Pres. Bush. He said that the Pres walked into the room and shook everyone's hand, and remembered everyone's name. He said to Josh: "Well Josh what do you do at Rocketown?" Then He straightened Josh's tie, saying, "You want to look good for your picture, don't you", because they were gonna have pictures taken with the Pres. He seemed to know that Josh was not a tie kinda guy...
